The tour was great, it s always great seeing new pieces of art! My eyes have definately been opened to the art world! I am definately enjoying this course! I wasnt a huge fan of Jackie Felix's work, although I can appretiate the work! Boy did she go through some pain in her life, it is very evident from her very angry paintings and brush strokes! Painting is not only something you can see, but it is something you can feel. Your emotions can come through a simple brush, or a can of paint, a pencil, or even a piece of crumpled paper. It is a good way and escape to release emotions! I hope everyone enjoyed the tour as much as I did, I am looking forward to more excursions in the comming weeks, as I cannot believe we are 1/4 way through the semester!
Jessica, I am glad that you enjoyed the trip to the Burchfield – I did, too! Jackie Felix definitely makes challenging work... I was a bit dismissive of it initially myself. Over the years, and the more I have looked at, has allowed me to see her work in a different way.
