This link just basically says how they afforded the artwork, Dorthy basically paid the bills and Heb bought the artwork. They had no one style they collected, the only one thing they required was that it fit in they're apt.

Herb and Dorthy even went to the extent to watch someones cat, in exchange for a piece of artwork. What a love for Art! They were very close with the artists. They even wanted some unfinished art. Seems like artists looked up to them for advice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpdM_Fj5Cms

Herb and Dorthy are the perfect example of people that will go to any extent to collect artwork. I am looking forward to discussing this further in class!
